The Client
Amadeus Brand has been working with Serenity Skin + Laser (formerly Serenity Skin, Body + Nails) since 2018, when business owner Donna originally approached me to rebrand her thriving beauty studio in conjunction with a move to new premises.
It was one of my favourite projects for 2018 — and what’s not to like? A gorgeous aesthetic, driven by the very savvy Donna, who knew exactly what she wanted and how to articulate it. The salon is located in a town of 25,000 people, 2.5 hours north of Melbourne in the beautiful north-east of Victoria. It’s an area close to my heart, having spent many holidays at my grandparent’s farm, not far from Wangaratta. My whole family — parents, sisters, nieces and nephews — all reside their now, so it’s lovely to have a work connection too.
The Brief
Rebrand of Visual Identity, Collateral & Website Design
Donna’s business and service orientation has slowly shifted over the past three years to focus more on clinical skin treatments. As such, she wanted the new brand name to reference this shift, and the aesthetics of the new brand to be simple and refined.
The Process
Having continued to work extensively with Donna since 2018, I was able to get up to speed with her vision right away. It wasn’t my usual process, as we are quite sympatico when it comes to her brand, and I was able to nail a look and feel that she liked in just one round: logo, colour palette, typography and an imagery treatment.
The Creative
It’s so much fun when the process is simple. Inspiration flows, and the creative solutions practically reveal themselves. The tagline ‘The future is flawless’ came to me as I’d spent so much time learning about Donna’s clinical skin treatments. It seems that all anyone really wants is clear, healthy, glowing skin. ‘Flawless’ may err toward the overly aspirational, but it’s fun to try on what it would feel like to have!
Donna had clear ideas for the structure of her website, and I was able to do some quick revisions of her existing Squarespace site, and refit it with the new branding: colours, typography and imagery.
We’re both really happy with the result, and I can’t want to see Donna kick even more goals with her business and continue our very enjoyable partnership.
