Bliss Architecture

The Client

Stephanie Lee is an architect who runs Bliss Architecture, based in Cape Schanck, on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria. She’s been an architect for over 20 years, and last year started her own practice designing for new builds and renovations, as well as a specialist capability of designing spaces for people with disabilities.

The Brief

Brand Strategy, Visual Identity Refresh & Website Design

Stephanie had built her own website in Wix, and on the advice of a business coach, had been encouraged to invest in a site that demonstrated her skills and talents with more clarity. It’s a real conundrum for professionals such as architects, builders or interior designers who are starting out: their projects often take years to come to fruition, so what do they do in the meantime to showcase their talents?

It’s a careful balance, and we opted for strong, emotive messaging and a small selection of imagery that demonstrated Stephanie’s aesthetic, with the intention of replacing these as down the track, and she completes projects and acquires some beautifully shot images of her own.

The lovely Sophie of Sister Scout Studio shot some wonderful images of Stephanie, which added additional layers to the aesthetic that Stephanie is demonstrating to her potential clients.

The result

Before we did anything, we dived deep into the strategy. Stephanie was really clear about her target market, which allowed us to employ a slightly softer approach than is typically used for architects. We spoke of families, and the rhythms of life that are so important in good home design. We were also sympathetic to her audience who will sometimes have disabilities of various natures.

We emerged with a mission and set of brand values that really reflect Stephanie’s calm and gentle approach, whilst also highlighting her creativity in other areas — a huge bonus for an architect.

Stephanie was really keen to retain her lighthouse logo, as it’s so representative of the Cape Schanck area. We revitalised this with some more sympathetic typography and a palette of earthy imagery that referenced the rugged coastal beauty of this part of the Peninsula.

Stephanie now has a website that’s full of information for new clients, plus illustrates her personal brand and approach to building design in a way that’s really clear for her audience.

I can’t wait to see her wonderful work on the website in the near future. Good luck Stephanie!
